Fundraiser launched to create new hub for Fife veterans

Mike Boyle, who established the Scottish Forces Breakfast Club in 2018, has highlighted the need for a facility to help former servicemen and women in the region.
The group needs to raise £10,000 for a new base which would be used as a meeting place and would also house the breakfast club and its emergency foodbank delivery service set up during lockdown.

Hide AdMike, who is from Glenrothes, said: “We already the Scottish Forces Breakfast Club that I set up in 2018 as there was nothing for veterans to do or nowhere to meet with like-minded folk, and hardly any breakfast clubs and no drop-in centres.
“We did not realise when it first launched that it would be such a big success.”
It started with 10 members, and by February 2020 there were 70 sitting together.
Mike said that the group’s aims were to provide a hub where veterans, armed forces personnel, and emergency service staff can come to meet with other like minded people for support.

Hide Ad“We want to provide them with a building that has a warm, welcoming environment,” he added.
“Ideally it will be a place where they can meet, talk, take part in activities, and have one to one or group conversations.
"Money is an issue – this is why we need to raise funds.
"There is no other contact hub in Fife and we have a urgent need as we are failing our veterans.”
