Saints boss confident fortunes will change

Saints headed to Downfield on Saturday on the hunt for the points to force them back into the promotion mix.

With the score at 1-1 United were awarded a penalty and a chance to get their noses in front over their hosts.

From it Barry Sibanda crashed his effort off the bar.

The ball was then thumped clear up the park and the hosts netted at the other end.

All within a matter of seconds.

“It just sums up our luck at the moment,” said boss Ian Barrett.

“It was unbelievable.

“But credit to the boys, they didn’t get desponded and got the score back to 2-2 and the game was there for the taking.”

Downfield scored a dubious third which had a hint of offside to it before then sealing the win in injury time.

Despite the defeat, Barrett was pleased with the attitude of his side.

“We had a big turnaround of players and I always said it would take us until the end of October,” he said.

“The performances have been there and the shape is looking good.

“I can see this league splitting into two, those battling against relegation and those looking for promotion.

“We want promotion, so now have a big two games against Tranent and Tayport to get six points.”
